What is Haldi?
Haldi is a traditional pre-wedding ceremony where a turmeric (haldi) paste is applied to the bride and groom’s skin. This is believed to bring good luck, purify the body, and give a natural glow to the couple before the wedding. Family and friends usually participate in applying the paste.
What is Sangeet?
Sangeet is a pre-wedding celebration. It is a night of music and dance where both families come together to celebrate, often with choreographed dance performances, singing, and entertainment.
What is Mehndi?
Mehndi is called the Henna Ceremony. This is another pre-wedding ritual where intricate henna designs are applied to the bride’s hands and feet. Sometimes, female family members and friends also get henna applied. This ceremony is filled with music, dancing, and fun traditions. The colour of the henna is believed to symbolize the strength of love and marriage.
What is Nikah?
Nikah is the Urdu team for the legal/religious wedding ceremony.
What is Walima?
Walima is the post-wedding banquet or reception in Islamic weddings, hosted by the groom’s family. It is a celebration of the marriage and a way to announce the union to the community. It usually involves a grand feast.
Will there be alcohol at the wedding?
Soft drinks are included, however alcoholic drinks are not. There will be a bar at the reception, where you can request alcoholic drinks. However, we kindly ask for you to be considerate of our guests who don't drink alcohol; we would appreciate if alcohol is consumed discreetly and in moderation.
